It was our distinct pleasure to host 2019 NewSong grand prize winner Jobi Riccio along with Isaiah Beard and Jesse Timm at Citizen Studios upstairs at Citizen Vinyl in downtown Asheville NC, to work with Gar on Riccio’s forthcoming debut album, Whiplash, this past week.
Working on my grand prize project with the team in person was such a gift! Gar has set up a perfect creator’s playground at Citizen Studios (with the best coffee and sandwiches in town only a few floors down!), and it was so wonderful to collaborate with him and my other two team members, Jesse Timm (arranging, co-producer) and Isaiah Beard (mix engineer), in-person after doing so much of the album remotely.
The whole experience of working with NewSong has been surreal, and I am so lucky to have found a home in the Asheville creative community.
