NewSong Recordings

NewSong Recordings was established to work hand in hand with exceptional talent that we identify within our community of artists. Our first release – Diana Jones’ highly acclaimed ‘My Remembrance of You’ in 2006 – was awarded the “#1 Country Album of the Year” by the Chicago Tribune. Since that time, we’ve committed to working with a select handful of exceptional artists who represent the breadth and depth of the NewSong artist community. . . Montreal’s Chris Velan, Brooklyn’s Amber Rubarth, and West Virginia’s Jeff Ellis, with more artists coming soon.

"Whipsmart songcraft and no-bullshit guitar rockers . . . Solidago harkens back to that Syncronicity-esque art of the album."
– Blurt! magazine

"Velan has no qualms about singing from the heart, and it enables him to pen some arrestingly pretty songs." – Montréal Gazette

"There's a toughness about his vocals and songs that transcend artifice. He's grown into a singer and songwriter whose music has a powerful, almost visceral effect."
– Larry Groce, Mountain Stage

"There are moments in The Forgetting Place that almost remind me of the late, great Vic Chesnutt. But there are also songs that remind me of everyone from Springsteen to Live to Chris Thile. You have to love a record that can’t really be pinned down to one comparison." Muruch.com
